Parts Runner Position

Employment Location: Grand Prairie, Texas

Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: DOE, starting at $20/hour

Job Description:

We are looking for a Parts Runner to support the mechanical team by ensuring efficient logistics, smooth organization, and providing entry-level exposure to mechanical processes. A parts runner is responsible for picking up and delivering parts, tools, and supplies between our shop, the field and suppliers. They coordinate with the team to ensure correct parts are obtained, maintain organized records of purchases and deliveries, and may assist with basic shop tasks. This role requires reliability, safe driving and an understanding of tools and parts. 

 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Parts Logistics:

  • Retrieve and deliver parts, tools, and supplies between job sites, shops, and suppliers.

  • Track and manage inventory, including monitoring backorders and restocking essential items.

  • Maintain accurate records of parts used and delivered.

Shop Support:

  • Assist mechanics with basic tasks such as cleaning parts, organizing tools, and preparing equipment for service.

  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

Safety & Maintenance:

  • Perform routine safety checks on tools and equipment

  • Ensure delivery vehicles are maintained and in good working condition.

Learning & Development:

  • Shadow mechanics during downtime to observe maintenance and repair tasks

  • Demonstrate initiative by asking questions and offering to assist with technical work

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid driver’s license (DL)

  • Clean driving record

  • Willing to work 40+ hours per week

  • Great attitude and works well with others

  • Must be a self-starter

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening 

 

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to active commercial and industrial construction sites with moving equipment, uneven terrain, dust, mud, noise, and varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain).

  • Shop environment may include exposure to fumes, oils, grease, solvents, and loud machinery.

  • Work is performed around heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts

  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and high-visibility apparel

  • Use of company vehicle while working

 

Physical Demands & Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch and climb

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50+ pounds regularly.

  • Ability to climb ladders and access heavy equipment components at various heights.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone or radio in high-noise environments.
