Moreno Valley, CA

76 acres worth of mass grading has now been completed on our Moreno Valley project. The four pads above have been finished ahead of schedule. One step closer to another successful industrial development. Final touchups have commenced with our final move underway. Projected to be completed Q4 of 2018.

Temescal Canyon Corona, CA

Sitting right off of the 91 Freeway in Corona, California lies a 7-acre site that was designed to accommodate a standard distribution building. Although the earthwork was relatively straight forward with 50,000 cu. yrds. of materials to be excavated one particular objective that made this project stand out from the rest was a sizable retaining. This 17ft retaining wall was designed by the engineers to protect the site from slides that can occur in the foothills which wrap around the western side of the site. This type of special requirement was no problem for the Earth Basics team!

Recently, Earth Basics completed its first move on a set of pads in San Bernadino, CA for a new distribution center that sits on 19 acres.

During our first move some undocumented pockets of fill were found and were required to be removed from the site. With this new development our team ended up excavating roughly 135,000 cu. yrds. Even with these hiccups our team was able to complete this project in a timely fashion.

Built under one of the top ranked real estate developers in the country, Hillwood; Earth Basics worked in tandem with engineers to achieve a perfectly balanced site that was delivered in good time. Westgate Building #4 San Bernardino, CA

I-210 #3 Rialto, CA

This new commercial tilt-up building constructed by Fullmer Construction sits on 33 acres and required 210,000 cu. yrds. of earthwork to be excavated during the preliminary stages of construction. Although the area was encompassed and surrounded by rock which is a common to the area and makes things a bit more interesting for our operators. The geography of this rock has some pretty interesting history. Otherwise known as “crystalline rock,” Rialto rock is part of the ancient North American continental interior which includes igneous granitic rocks which are on the order of 1.7 billion years old. Processing these rocks can be tedious and take alot of time to remove, however, our team had experienced this type of material before and had no issues getting the job done.

Rincon 564 Pomona, CA

The Earth Basics team was the perfect contractor to perform the 40,000 cu. yrds. of earthwork required on this project. Once upon a time this site was home to a 10-acre dairy farm but recently it has received a new lease on life by becoming a newly design retail center and hotel. The native materials left over from the previous tenets required the Earth Basics team to dry and replace it with new fill. Even with the extra steps required the Earth Basics team wrapped this project up on time on all stages.

Georgia Logistics Center, CA

Located in San Bernardino Ca. this new logistics center sits on 8.6 acres of land and has a 151,853 sq. ft. footprint. With 74,427+ cu. yards moved, the Earth Basics team efficiently executed the earthwork needed to ensure a successful project. This standard tilt up is a prime project for the Earth Basics team.

Hamner #450 Miraloma, CA

Sitting between highways 15 and 60 in Miraloma California Hamner #450 couldn’t be in a better location for a distribution center. Contracted through Norm Wilson & Sons this 60,000 cu yrd/10 acre job site was completed and delivered on time and considered to be a natural turn-key earth moving project for our West Coast Division.

Prologis Park Beaumont, CA

This project is located on the 60 freeway just west of interstate 10. The area boundary lies to the east of a well-known area called “The Badlands”. Due to the extreme riding terrain here, this location has become a popular riding spot where many motocross videos have been shot. To the east of the site is a well-known travelers stop called the Dowling Orchards, a small but friendly store that travelers/truckers have found to be a good stop to pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, jams and drinks on their way out of town. Part of the site work package is to construct a new parking lot for the store.

This site started out as a two-phase project. Before we were complete with the mass grading for phase one, we were contracted for phase two, turning a good project into a great project. At just less than 200 acres we moved almost 3.5 million cubic yards of earth and fine graded 8,276,400 square feet of land. Like all of our projects, we completed this one with machine controlled GPS-guided equipment.

Sysco Foods Moreno Valley, CA

Earth Basics handled the grading for a 462,000 square foot Sysco Foods facility that breaks down to over 63,000 square feet of office space, 114,000 square feet of freezer space and 38,000 square feet of cooler space. The remainder is warehouse space (probably full of knives and forks to go along with all that great food!). The building pad had over 7 different sub grade elevations for the Earth Basics team to coordinate. This tested the engineering and 3-D modeling skills from our office staff to insure the field guys had the proper sections to cut. After completing the grading of the pad, it was certified and there were zero corrections to be made. (Pretty much like throwing a perfect game!).

Highland Corporate Center, Riverside CA

Nestled in Southern California, toward the South-East of Riverside county, and at the end of Palmayrita Avenue, Highland Corporate Centerwas an exciting earth moving project for us. This project came with some fun design challenges, like elevation changes of over 100 feet and a massive water line, over 12 feet in diameter, that was tunneled through the Box Canyon mountain range. Earth Basics had to engineer and construct a bridge to spread the weight of the scrapers to cross over the water line in order to haul over 150,000 cubic yards to the westerly side of the project. (That’s enough dirt to cover a football field 85 feet high!!) During the project we discovered the shrinkage numbers provided were inaccurate, so working on the fly and adapting to the situation, Earth Basics raised the engineered dimensions over one foot to get a balanced site. The terrace style development gave us some challenging and fun working conditions!

Doty Trust Park, Riverside CA

Tucked away in a sleepy little Southern Californian residential neighborhood, lies a challenging piece of land where our crew had some fun. When Earth Basics mobilized several 657 E model scrapers along with a D-10 N dozer and other miscellaneous support equipment, those sleepy neighbors began to wake up a bit. As we began to move earth, we wrassled with some boulders the size of a large semi truck. The Earth Basics crew then had to turn to our rock blasting methods and decided to drill and blast the rocks to break them down to a manageable size. “small-import-car-size”. As our team was nearing the completion of the designed earthwork, the neighborhood had been in touch with the city with complaints of the way the slopes angled. (Apparently everybody thinks they are a qualified design engineer). So, after some field discussions, it was concluded that we could reduce the slope angle with a fresh engineering design and create a happy neighborhood. In the end, the earthwork project was still completed on time with smiles on all the neighborhood faces…

As well as the neighborhood boulders!

Distribution Center Redlands, CA

Some of the toughest challenges seem to arise when you least expect them. Our Glen Helen project seemed to start off on a rocky road, (quite literally). When the first soils report came in, it looked as if it would be smooth sailing in Southern California. However, after a test dig revealed a bed of large rocks just below the visible surface of the job site, the Earth Basics team adjusted quickly to create a new plan of attack. Normally this re-routing could take weeks, putting the entire project behind schedule.

However, a new batch of specified equipment was mobilized and directed to the job site within a few days, keeping the timeline current and the finish-line in sight. Just another example of how Earth Basics stays agile in responding to changing conditions, while finding solutions for dealing with the unknown.

Glen Helen 600k San Bernadino, CA

As the community of the “2008 Land Development Project of the Year,” continues to grow–(better known as Portola Springs in Irvine)...so does the need for surrounding infrastructure stability.

Earth Basics Contracting was the chosen contractor to repair a dam and levee located in Plan Area 6, North of Heritage Fields in the heart of the Irvine Company’s Development. Heavy iron was utilized removing vegetation, inlet and pipe, v-ditch, trees and excavating sediment in basins to prepare the levee for its facelift. Down drains, splash walls, trap channels and pipe entrances were constructed and thousands of pounds of rip rap encompassed the refurbished levee. Under time restraints, EBCC managed to pursue the vigorous schedule in order to complete the project as demanded by the Irvine Company-all while maintaining a perfect safety record!

Southport Logistics Center, TX

Another project in the books. Southport Logistics Center consisted of 2.3mil cubic yards moved which resulted in 1.5mil square feet worth of a new logistics buildings, located 10 miles from downtown Dallas. With the massive amount of rain that fell in 2015-2016, (100-year flood conditions) our crews tackled the water detention system early to help with dewatering of the site. We were able to deliver on time and within budget. These types of multi-million cubic yard projects are what Earth Basics is designed to tackle.

Ashley Furniture: Mesquite, TX

A new large employer is projected to come to the Mesquite area. Ashley Furniture has started the construction of a new $65 million, 860,000 square-foot-southwest regional distribution and fulfillment center on 358 acres in eastern Mesquite.

Earth Basics was granted the earthwork contract and commenced forth in October of 2017. The groundbreaking ceremony was a sight to behold. Govoner Greg Abbot and key executives from Ashley Furniture joined contractors and local dignitaries to celebrate the growth that Ashley will bring to the local economy. Currently underway, the Earth Basics team is due to wrap up soon.

Midpoint Building 2: Lancaster, TX

Texas's flat and construction friendly lands makes it a prime spot for distribution centers of any size. This project was an 80-acre site that would be the future home of a 710,000 square foot distribution center. 260,000 cubic yards of soil & 80,000 cubic yards of limestone were moved to help balance the site.

Southlink Industrial Park: Dallas, TX

Southlink Logistics Center is one of the largest new industrial developments in Dallas. The 1.04 million-square-foot industrial complex will be constructed on Cleveland Road south of Interstate 20. Overall this project comes in at 92 acres and is estimated to have 775,000 cubic yards moved.

Phase I involves the construction of a public roadway, public infrastructure, industrial building, siphonic roof drain system, paving, landscape and utilities.

The building stands 50’ in height and features 184 overhead doors, just over 500 parking spaces, a 1,612-square-foot office area and an overall interior clearance of 40’. The new public roadway named Southlink Drive was cement stabilized with 2750 linear ft/415 tons of cement slurry in which was accomplished in 4 days

Construction began in June 2017 and is projected to have a turn-over set in May 2018.

Mountian Creek: Dallas, TX

Not all of our projects are designed to accommodate a single building pad. We sometimes get the opportunity to build out sites with multiple building pads. Our Mountian Creek project is one just like that. In total, this project was 1.5 square miles in total that were designed to accommodate an Ulta Beauty Product Distribution Center as well as a Kimberly Clark Distribution Center. All in all 660,000 cubic yards ended up being moved on this 95-acre site.
